Out in the World: Gay and Lesbian Life from Buenos Aires to Bangkok
Published in Hardcover by Random House (October, 1992)
Average review score:

gays of the world are here! This book was great. In it, Miller visits every continent inhabited by humans and speaks with local gays about their lives. The great thing is, he makes a point of speaking to lesbians, gays of color, and the HIV-positive in all these countries. This would be a great book for gays and lesbians of color to read. There are two chapters on Thailand and this may feel a little exploitative and sex-touristy, but Miller is an obvious progressive and wouldn't mean to offend intentionally. While reading this book, you will ask yourself how Miller got the money to do so much travelling and investigating in the first place. Readers will wish they had the opportunities that the author had. This book was both informative and fun.

Planet Ocean: A Story of Life, the Sea, and Dancing to the Fossil Record
Published in Paperback by Ten Speed Press (September, 1995)
Average review score:

A beautiful, well-written view of past life in the ocean! This book was a pleasure to read- even though it was mostly facts (and this is coming from a teenager)! Sure, I love learning about evolution and fossils, but I rarely sit down to read long, boring books about it. But this book is fresh, colorful, full of information, and INTERESTING!!! I congratulate the author and illustrator for putting out such a masterpiece! It is sure to recruit paleontologists for the next generation!

Ray Troll's Shocking Fish Tales: Fish, Romance, and Death in Pictures
Published in Paperback by Ten Speed Press (July, 1993)
Average review score:

Not Just Another Fish StoryAt times poetic, at times informative, and at times just entertaining, this book is a must for anyone who likes fish, fishing or just great art. The two guys who collaborated on this book found a fun way of sharing their fish passion with the reader. Ray Troll's artwork has a charming folk quality with a bit of twisted humor reminiscent of Gary Larsen. This book is a quick read and something you can pick up and enjoy again and again. Loved it!

an in-depth look of the forces needed to overcome inertiaMr. Miller does a great job describing Seneca Falls, NY in the mid to late 20th century and gives a great perspective of the emotions and thoughts a young man goes through growing up. Let alone the wonderful look at the suffrage movement of the United States and the forces that led them. Roadside Geology of Pennsylvania (Roadside Geology Series)
Published in Paperback by Mountain Press Publishing Company (June, 2003)
Average review score:

Geology is funSince my husband and I were going to be spending a week in Pennsylvania, I brought the Roadside Geology book of PA along. I was interested in understanding the local geology and was happy to discover three fossil sites within the area we stayed. I was able to look at a Triassic fossil dinosaur footprint at one site and find some Devonian fossils in another. The Roadside Geology book is great for someone who only has a short period of time to explore a particular area. I hope they'll put one out for every state (particularly Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia...hint hint hint.)
